What a Travel Advisor Actually Saves You

Not a lower sticker price. Three real things I do for you, and where each one comes from.

Checked on 9 Oct 2026

Paloma is the AI travel assistant on this site. It plans trips with you, answers your questions and, when a price or a booking comes up, it connects you with the right advisor to act on it. The three things below are what that advisor handoff actually delivers.

Re-fare

When the price drops after you book, your advisor of record can ask Disney or the cruise line to apply it. Nobody else can.

How It Works

This is the one I get asked about most. The supplier keeps a record of who booked your trip. If the published price for your same trip goes down later, the person on that record is the one who files the request.

Each line has its own rules, so I read them instead of guessing. Carnival is the one I have checked so far. On its Early Saver price protection claim page it says "Only bookings made with an Early Saver promotion are eligible" and "simply contact your travel agent and they will submit it for you." It also says a claim is reviewed within two business days, and a guest whose claim qualifies can choose an upgrade or a non-refundable onboard credit for the fare difference.

The rules for Disney and the other lines are not on this page yet. I will add each one with its own link and date once I have read it, and until then I will tell you "I will check" instead of promising.

An Example, Without Prices

Say you book a sailing in the spring. In the summer the line lowers the price on your same room, same ship and same dates. I send the request with the lower rate and where it was advertised. You never had to watch a deals page or rebook. If your sailing is not one the line covers, I tell you that too.

Timing

Your advisor knows when the discounts tend to land and when the ships and rooms you want sell out.

How It Works

Offers come in waves, and the popular sailings fill. I look at the offers every week, so I can tell you when to book now and when it is fine to wait.

We also keep our own dated record of when each offer appeared and when it ended. It is short, because it starts with the first offer we approved. As it grows, you will be able to see the pattern for yourself.

An Example, Without Prices

A family wants a school-break sailing. Those fill early, so I tell them to book it now. The same family also wants a quieter month, and there I say to wait and watch. Before I say any of it I ask how old the kids are.

Availability

Watch My Trip tells you when the trip you want opens up or a new offer fits it. The advisor acts on it.

How It Works

You tell Watch My Trip about your trip once. When something that fits shows up, you get a message with the source and the date it was seen.

It never books anything for you. It tells you, and then your advisor can book it or change it. That is the part a message alone cannot do.

An Example, Without Prices

You want a certain ship in a certain week, and it was full. A cabin opens. You hear about it the same day, and I can move on it while it is still there.

What an Advisor Does Not Do

  • I cannot sell you the same trip for a lower published price. The price is the same whether you book direct or through an advisor.
  • I do not have a secret price, and this site never shows advisor-only rates.
  • I do not guess at what an advisor charges. If an advisor states their fees, we print their words, and if not, we leave it blank.
  • I will not pick your destination for you. I ask your kids' ages first, then I recommend.
  • I cannot promise a price drop will happen. I can only ask for it when it does.

Find an advisor, or ask Paloma first

Paloma helps you plan. When a price, a sailing or availability comes up, it names the advisor and hands you over.
